A Man Turned Fortnite Into A Donation Hub To Raise $1 Million

Gaming September, 17, 2025

With the donation raising campaigns around him DrLupo went ahead to do something noble on his part. He decided to use the video game platform to raise the donation amount. So he dug hard in his mind for the possible ways through which he could make players shell out or donate more and more money. Finally he braced himself up with a platter of incentives to coax people to donate.

He tried to achieve the feat by asking people to donate if they wanted him to rein in from entering the building or to throw away his weapons. Not just that he even asked players to pay a sum of $350000 to have his son play Fortnite. His wife was also put up on that board. He asked the players to pay $500000 to have his wife play Resident Evil. To everyone’s surprise the donations poured in at a rate of $3400 a minute. Forbes calculated the rate and highlighted main points and success of the donation spree.

Fans of Ninja ItsmeJP and State Farm Insurance came up to a big extent to shell out some money for the donations. The play went on for around 4.5 hours. But in the end DrLupo got a little disheartened as he missed out on his target of $1 million donations by a few dollars. This could be attributed to the moment when people demanded to see him doing the Ninja’s signature dance-the Pon Pon online. Unfortunately he could not go for it as the spree came to an end.

On the other side GuardianCon came up with its weekend plan to raise some more donations for St. Jude. It was started as Destiny convention with panels and developer talks on its board. Finally it managed to evolve as a big name in that domain.

According to Forbes Destiny studio Bungie had too managed to raise around $40000 during its time slot. So in the end the total donations crossed the high rated mark of $3 million. The amount went up to $3721097. It was transferred in the donation bag of the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. It had also reported that some 10752 noble donors came up for the donation. One can look for the initiative on Twitter. The tweet said “With 10752 unique donations the @GuardianCon finale with @DrLupo raised $920343.98 in 4 1/2 hours bringing @GuardianCon’s total for the year to over $3.7 million for the kids of @StJude. Absolutely mind-blowing. Thank you.”

One can say that the meaning of a platform depends on the will of its user.
