The basic structural design followed while constructing an airplane is not changed much. The companies stick to conventional architecture when it comes to making them the safest. However, there is one company that has made some alterations in the basic design to incorporate some fun in the design.

European aerospace company Airbus launched Beluga XL and it definitely stays true to its name. The shape resembles a Beluga and the nose has a cartoon beluga face on it. Belugas in the air!

We can ensure you that this shape has made the cargo planes really efficient. So, the company has managed to integrate creativity with efficiency very smartly. So, if you are living around Europe, be prepared to spot those whales in the sky. Okay, don’t take that literally. Beluga XL might be flying around between Airbus plants in Toulouse and Hamburg.

The belugas are known for their bulging head that assists them to go in different directions easily as they usually are slow swimmers. This feature of the sea creature is absent in the cargo plane, instead, they are fast with the Airbus engines installed. The beluga-shaped fuselage helps in navigating through wind systematically.

We have to break it to you that these are not passenger flights. So, you won’t get to ride a “beluga”. They are used to transport parts of other planes and also, they are capable of carrying enormous planes and their parts. They definitely have huge bodies!

Airbus will launch six Beluga XL planes and so, one can only see them once in a while flying across Europe. If you wish to imagine them in your head, consider a three-story building as that’s the height of these planes and the length is equivalent to two belugas. The company revealed such details on their website.

These airplanes are undoubtedly unique but this isn’t the first time that Airbus has made such planes. Beluga STs already exist and are making their way around the world. They are cargo too!
