Blind Harry Potter Fan Surprised With The Books In Braille
Emrie, a seven-year-old girl from Kansas City, Missouri, was born with a rare gene anomaly. She learned braille at the age of four years and now is reading books above her age with ease. She had a routine with her father where he used to read her Harry Potter books. But once they had reached Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Emrie wished that she could read the book herself.
Her family looked into the prices of the braille version of the Harry Potter series and found that a single book of the series cost $240. But Emrie’s aunt was determined to gift her niece ‘the gift of magic’ for Christmas. Her caring aunt Kateyn Suter decided to do something for the same. She went ahead and set up a GoFundMe page to raise money for her niece’s Christmas gift.
She was able to raise $4,226 from it. They were able to collect funds not only for Emily but others as well. They brought a full set for Emrie so that she could enjoy the whole series and even brought five full Harry Potter braille series for local libraries and schools. The family was able to raise all the funds in just 24 hours. That shows how empathetic and compassionate people are living around us. All hope is not lost.
Emrie’s aunt Kateyn wrote: “I am speechless at the kindness we have received over the last 24 hours and I can’t thank every one of you enough for contributing! Happy Holidays!” She even shared a video of her niece receiving and opening her Christmas present. She was delighted with her present and super excited to read the series all by herself. Christmas spirits should not go down and the community did not let her down.
