Technology July, 10, 2025

The Twitter boss Elon Musk is all set to touch another cornerstone. He is the second most followed person on Twitter after Barack Obama. Taking on that, he has been seeing a surge in the number of his followers after he took control of the social media platform. Experts now expect him to become the top influencer on Twitter.

Elon Musk is the name that is making it to the news headlines now and then for different reasons. Recently, he stormed the world of social media by gaining control of Twitter. Not just that, the success also put him on the top of the trend list. Many have been searching about his background and fortunes. That is going a long way in adding to his name and fame. Building on that note, he is a few knots away from becoming the top influencer on Twitter.

There is hardly any soul who does not know about Elon Musk. His personality has been making waves with his business models and moves. His professional life has also catapulted his personal life into the limelight. Therefore, it is no surprise for finding people trying to keep themselves up with his ventures. Taking on that note, he also only has Barack Obama (130 million followers) trending ahead of him on Twitter. He cherishes a following of 120 million people on Twitter.

Not just that, the number is ticking up after his Twitter deal. Therefore, experts are looking forward to seeing him rise as the top influencer on Twitter. Going that way, experts shared their views on three statistics.

The first one is about the stunning rise in the number of his followers. According to statistics, he gained 268,303 followers a day (on average) in the past 12 months. He saw his followers snapping away from him only on five days. However, he lost 200,000 on 12 November after he announced job cuts. Experts are optimistic about him having new followers.

The social-media commentator Matt Navarra shared, “Elon Musk is now the main character on Twitter. In some ways, having a CEO who is a major influencer on the platform has some advantages because it makes him very accessible to people.”

Adding to that, he said, “He is very antagonistic and inflammatory and, some might even say, quite toxic. And for brands, he might be seen as potentially very dangerous.”

Kate Baucherel also said, “Wrapping the personality of the CEO into the personality of the platform compromises any neutrality or diversity. A white male US resident does not represent the world.”

The second statistic points out that he has been tweeting 86% more after buying Twitter. According to one product manager at Twitter, “It's great to have a CEO who uses the product.” However, he also pressed, “I think people who tweet a lot are addicted - and possibly narcissistic. No single person has enough interesting things to say to the entire world to tweet more than five times a day.”

The third statistic presents the surprising fact that he follows only 129 people on the platform. On the other hand, Twitter founder Jack Dorsey followed 3,500 people. Barack Obama follows 570,000 on Twitter.

Taking on that part, the former Twitter manager shared, “He has no idea what the experience of normal users is. For example, he never sees ads - because we limit advertising served to the top 1,000 or so users. So he wouldn't have understood that part of the product before he bought it.”

Let us see where Musk heads on Twitter.
