‘It Ends With Us’: starring Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni
It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover is a best-selling book that is currently being made into a movie by Wayfarer Studios and Sony Pictures. Together with Christy Hall who will adapt the script under Justin Baldoni's direction Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni are all ready to take on the lead parts.
Jamey Heath and Alex Saks will both produce the film on behalf of Wayfarer Studios and Saks Picture Company respectively. Along with Steve Sarowitz Andrew Calof and Baldoni who are associated with Wayfarer which is also co-financing Lively and Hoover join as executive producers. Hall is a producer as well.
The narrative centers on Lily a young woman who has recently moved and is ready for life after college. Lily then meets Ryle and she starts to like him. Her first love Atlas makes a surprise appearance just as Lily begins to feel something for Ryle. This makes their relationship complicated.
Hoover is now the best-selling novelist in the United States with over 20 million books sold. She also wrote five of the ten bestselling print novels of any genre in 2022. Hoover became a "BookTok" cultural sensation with more than 2 billion views on her TikTok hashtag. It Ends With Us which was published in 43 languages and was the best-selling print book of 2022 lasted more than 90 weeks on the New York Times Best Seller List. In 2019 the book was optioned by Baldoni and Wayfarer Studios and they've been working with Hoover who is serving as a consultant for the film.
Lively recently made her directorial debut with Taylor Swift's 2021 music video for "I Bet You Think About Me" for which she received two nominations for ACM Awards and one for a CMA. Lively will reprise the same role in the upcoming A Simple Favor sequel which will star Anna Kendrick and Paul Feig returning to direct. With the adaptation of the Bryan Lee O'Malley graphic novel Seconds written and produced by Edgar Wright along with Marc Platt she will make her feature film directorial debut for Searchlight.
The CW's Jane the Virgin made Baldoni famous for his leading role but since then he has worked more in production directing and producing movies including Clouds and Five Feet Apart. He is the host of the podcast The Man Enough Podcast which is nominated for a Webby award and explores the complexities of masculinity. He most recently became an author penning the New York Times bestseller Boys Will Be Human as well as his debut book Man Enough: Undefining My Masculinity in 2021.
I Am Not Alright With This based on the acclaimed comic novel by Charles Foreman was a Netflix/21 Laps 2020 series that Hall co-developed and executive produced. Her most recent film Daddio which she adapted from her play of the same name marked her directorial debut. The film which is currently in postproduction stars Dakota Johnson and Sean Penn.
Hall also adapted Hold Back the Stars for Dan Cohen at 21 Laps and Lionsgate the English-language remake of Joachim Trier's movie Thelma for FilmNation and Craig Gillespie and Stephen King's The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon for Vertigo and Village Roadshow. She is also writing the screenplay for The Husband's Secret a Sony Pictures production based on Liane Moriarty's best-selling book. He recently worked as a consultant producer on Apple's Servant in Television.
