The celebrated actor named Jonah Hoffman recently revealed that he got his Hollywood break based on the prank calls he made for Dustin Hoffman. It all started after he became friends with Hoffman’s children in New York. He was studying there and was attending open mics. His pranks impressed Dustin. He introduced him to the I Heart Huckabees movie’s director.

Fame only needs a click of luck and time to unwind. This goes a long way in bringing iconic actors to light. No doubt talent remains the core element. However it also needs a perfect combination of luck and opportunity to break the ice. That holds for a plethora of actors. They cherished the notes of success after finding the crucial break. One of them is Jonnah Hoffman. He got entry into Hollywood with his witty prank calls for Dustin Hoffman.

Jonah was 19. He was doing great with his wit and timing. The actor was studying in New York. It was there that he became friends with Dustin Hoffman’s children. They go around attending open mic and other stuff. His innate mischievous character managed to strike a chord with them. Not just that they also introduced him to their father Dustin.

Dustin also lost his heart to his wit. Taking on that part Jonah went ahead to record prank call CDs for Dustin. He would feign other celebrities’ assistants and would ask weird things from people on the other end. One time the actor succeeded in pursuing a hotel owner to install a tank for a pet seal. For that he feigned as Tobey Maguire's assistant.

His hard work finally yielded his returns. Dustin called him one day. To his surprise Dustin introduced him to the I Heart Huckabees movie’s director and cast members (David O. Russell Lily Tomlin and Jason Schwartzman).  

Shedding light on his New York days he shared “It was like storytelling and poetry and they were all really serious and I would write fake ones which were dark and serious and only a couple of friends knew they were fake. Eventually I became friends with Jake and Becky Hoffman. [...] They really liked what I was doing.”

Adding to that he said “I had this bit where I’d phone people pretend to be a celebrity’s assistant and ask for outlandish things.”

Dustin went ahead to make them listen to his prank-call CDs. His prank call performances served as his audition for the movie. To his delight it worked. They liked his work to a great extent.

Taking on that part he said “And they're all listening to the prank call CDs I made and my mind was blown I was really freaked out. Because you’re never put on the spot that heavily in a scene. It’s the most jagged manoeuvrable situation possible because you’re dealing with a real person.”

Finally he made it to the star cast of I Heart Huckabees. After that he went on to win hearts with his light-hearted roles. His performances went around the world to create a mark. Wolf of Wall Street and 21 Jump Street continue to be the stars on his performance platter. Not just that he also added to his narrative by winning an Academy Award. Thus he soared high and made the best of his humor talent.

However his performance in I Heart Huckabees continues to be unique. It was his performance in the movie that helped him move ahead and bagged the role in The 40-Year-Old Virgin. The credit for that goes to Dustin Hoffman.
