Movies July, 05, 2025

'Games of Thrones' saw the end of its day a few months back. But its bits and parts still haunt the fans of the series. Some scenes make people go over them again to give solace to their souls. But other scenes give birth to unsatisfied anxiety. The fans are not happy with some of the presented twists and turn in the series. Similar is the case for the character Cersei Lannister. Not just the fans but Lena Headey (who played the part) too lamented the manner of death of the character.

Lena stole a significant chunk of the limelight that fell on the 'Games of Thrones' series for her marvelous character. Thus, she had expected the things to see the light of dusk in an elegant way for Cersei. But to her dismay, it did not go the way of her high powered expectations.

The final season of the series presented an insipid culmination of her part. Cersei Lannister embraced the sword of death with her brother Jaime Lannister under the Red keep in the show. It was not just shocking to her but for the fans also. They had better plots of death of the character in the show in their mind. Thus, their dismay nudged them to file a petition to recreate the final season of Games of Thrones with a better shot.

Revealing her dismay in one of her interviews after the end of the show, she shared, "I will say I wanted a better death. Obviously you dream of your death. You could go in any way on that show. So I was kind of gutted. But, I just think they couldn't have pleased everyone. No matter what they did, I think there was going to be some big comedown from the climb".

But the time for complaints had gone for the fans. Lena too decided to get on with the things in her life. According to her, she had enough of the vibrant offers in the bag of her career. Thus, there was ample scope for her to make a fantastic come back. Taking on that part, she said, "I invested as a viewer and I have my favorite characters. And I've got a few of my own gripes. But, I haven't sat down drunkly with David [Benioff] and Dan [Weiss] yet."

The matter of death of Cersei would remain deep in the heart of the fans of the series and Lena. But the things had to slip by to put the triggers down.

Hopefully, Lena would get her better part next time. May the character of Cersei rest in peace within her.
