Harry Potter fans were going crazy after unleashing this. Researchers named the creature after one of the four founding members of Hogwarts School Of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Salazar Slytherin. The new scientific paper in the open-access journal Zoosystematics and Evolution declared the findings. In the year 2019, a group of scientists who were carrying out their research on a herpetological expedition in the Himalayan biodiversity hotspot came across a new kind of green pit viper. The team was from Arunachal Pradesh, a state in India.

The snake is of the Trimeresurus family. Such kind of species was extensively found in East and South-East Asia. The family included at least forty-eight different varieties of serpents. The number can be even more than it. The group even found another species of snakes on their operation. The Salzar snake has distinctive features like they have orange and red colored strips on their body. The strips run from the head to their tales. This feature can be seen only in males. Scientists referred to it as ‘the Salzar’s pit viper’.

Hence, that made the researches and scientists to connect the name of the snake to a Harry Potter-inspired character. Of course, it was not because the scientist could speak or understand Parseltongue like Salazar Slytherin could speak. It is also known that Salazar and his family had a rare gift of speaking paseltounge. No doubt that the snake was noteworthy of being named after the founder of House Slytherin. In addition to that, the house logo and colors even trait a green serpent. People who were crazy about Harry Potter pretty much liked the idea.

People could not believe their eyes after knowing the name of the Serpent just like when the beetles were named after Game Of Thrones’s character, dragon. Nevertheless, people won’t be happy to know and discover if the scientists kicked off building a private chamber secretly under their labs for the snake-like the Chambers of Secrets. Or even for that matter, they start articulating their findings and works inside a magical diary.

People could not agree more that Salzar Slytherin would be a great name for the snake. However, he is quite not the best inspiration on what to do with them.
