Tom Cruise has announced his retirement from the Mission Impossible Franchise. He has declared that the upcoming Mission Impossible movie named ‘Dead Reckoning Part Two’ would be his last film with the franchise. The movie would be the franchise's eighth film all of which starred Tom Cruise. Therefore it is most likely that the franchise would also be over with the end of Tom Cruise’s role.

Mission Impossible franchise is one of the most successful franchises in the world’s film industry. The movie series revolves around an American Spy who solves cases to save the nation from destruction. Tom Cruise has played the role of the American Spy named Ethan Hunt since the first movie of the series. Besides having great acting skills he is best known for the stunts that he does on his own without the assistance of body doubles in the movies.

Tom Cruise has broken people’s hearts when he announced his retirement from the franchise. The movie director Christopher McQuarrie has asked people to accept the news. As everything good comes to an end someday or other Tom Cruise’s role as Ethan Hunt was also going to end someday. Nonetheless the time has come.

The first-ever movie of the Mission Impossible franchise was released in the year 1996. It was indeed a huge success. It made Tom an action star. The movie established his position as an action hero in the industry. Until now six movies of the franchise have been released and it has made a profit of around $3.5 billion. The Mission Impossible franchise has been one of the most successful franchises in the movie industry across the world.

The last two movies of the Mission Impossible franchise Dead Reckoning Part 1 and Dead Reckoning Part 2 are yet to release. They are dated to release in the year 2023 and 2024 respectively. The news is in the air that the shooting of both movies has been completed and only the work on post-production is left. Nonetheless Dead Reckoning Part 2 would be a culmination of Ethan’s character.

When the movie director Christopher McQuarrie was asked about his reaction to the whole retirement announcement he said that he has seen it coming. He expressed that there have been many times when he has witnessed a particular event with his eyes and read about it in the newspaper or social media the next day. Most of the time he has been disappointed after reading the article because the description was far from the truth. There is only a limited thing that an actor could bear.

Christopher believed that the articles are written with an agenda and that the agenda is not to spread the correct news about the event. Instead it is to gain the attention of most of the viewers. To catch the readers’ attention they use imaginary words that degrade reality’s whole essence.

Nevertheless the first part of Dead Reckoning would be released on July 14 2023. It is a multi-starer movie with starts like Simon Pegg Rebecca Ferguson Esai Morales Rob Delaney Cary Elwes Ving Rhames Vanessa Kirby Shea Whigham Hayley Atwell Pom Klementieff and Henry Czerny besides Tom Cruise. If the movie would be a hit like all the other movies of the franchise then it would be a perfect way to bid goodbye to Tom Cruise and most likely the franchise too.
