YouTuber Converted Nolan’s Tenet Onto GameBoy Advance
Nolan’s movie may come once in a while but the ones that do are mind-boggling and sometimes bamboozling as well. With every moment of the film captured with pinpoint accuracy the outcome makes it reasonable to watch it in theatres for a much better experience. Call it ‘out of spite’ or anything but Youtuber Bob Wulff came up with an interesting concept to watch Tenet on something unusual.
Popularly known as Wulff Den the YouTuber wondered if he could watch the movie on the smallest screen possible and GameBoy Advance was the only option. Although Nolan had already said that the conglomeration of both the sound as well as image in the movie is worth watching on the big screen the pandemic was a big occlusion to his expectations. This was one of the reasons why Wulff tried to find an alternative. A movie would never be someone’s priority during such an unprecedented crisis.
On the other hand several memes related to Nolan’s suggestion of watching the movie in theatres were being shared on social media the global pandemic was a huge concern for most of us. Wulff needed five cartridges because the maximum time for any video to be played on a GameBoy Advance is not more than 30 minutes. Moreover he also created his own labels for all the cartridges. He admits that it might be one of the worst ways to watch Tenet but it still counts as a possible way to make it viewable in the first place.
And if you too are wondering how he did it he has explained all the steps for people like him. Also Nolan himself isn’t much concerned about how people are going to watch his movies. It’s totally their preference and he had clearly said it when he was asked the same during Dunkirk’s release. He elucidated that these films are mainly released on the bigger screens and the overall experience definitely drops down depending on the size of the screen. The cinematic experience and how you assimilate the story would be quite different when you’re watching something on an iPad.
So it turns out that he never warned anyone of watching shows outside theatres and apparently he might not have expected to run it on something like GameBoys. And for people like Wulff who have put such comparisons aside Tenet running on a smaller screen still does the work.
