Samuel L Jackson snapped at Quentin Tarantino for not considering Marvel actors as movie stars
The well-known actor Samuel L Jackson took back on Quentin Tarantino for not recognizing Marvel actors as movie stars. The actor went on to say that he would prefer to do a Marvel movie over an Oscar-winning one. Famous for his character Fury he showered praise on the celebrated Marvel heroes. He touched on every stone to back Marvel stars.
Marvel rules the universe for sure! Its heroes are always at their best to serve the best around. They go ahead to demonstrate the best of their moves and wits to make a mark in the domain. No matter whether one is an Iron Man fan or a Captain America follower one cannot deny its love. They have accompanied one through one’s childhood. Their magical powers have kept alive the fantasy. Therefore one can see people jostling in the crowd to grab their Marvel movie tickets.
However there is one person who is not ready to consider Marvel actors on par with other movie stars. He is none other than the director Quentin Tarantino. According to him Marvel actors are not movie stars. They do not stand the same stature as other movie actors. As expected his comment stirred a furore among Marvel fans.
Not only Marvel fans but his long-time collaborator Samuel L Jackson also came up to snap at him. To one’s surprise Jackson has featured in six of his films. Therefore it is a bit difficult to believe that Jackson stood against the director. Jackson cherishes his fanbase for his celebrated role as Nick Fury in the Marvel Cinematic Universe franchise.
Unwinding his criticism of Tarantino’s comment he said “It takes an actor to be those particular characters and the sign of movie stardom has always been what a**es in seats? What are we talking about?” Adding to that he said “That’s not a big controversy for me to know that apparently these actors are movie stars.”
Thus he was in no mood to sit back and gulp the berating comment. Well he did not stop there. But he went ahead to back Marvel’s celebrated heroes in the best possible way. According to him they cherished their place because they deserved it. They had earned their name and fame for pulling off their roles marvelously.
Taking on that note he said “Chadwick Boseman is Black Panther. You can’t refute that and he’s a movie star. Part of the Marvel-ization of Hollywood is… you have all these actors who have become famous playing these characters. But they’re not movie stars. Right? Captain America is the star. Or Thor is the star. I mean I’m not the first person to say that. I think that’s been said a zillion times you know but you know but it’s like you know it’s these franchise characters that become a star. My only axe to grind against them is they’re the only things that seem to be made.”
Adding to that he expressed “And they’re the only things that seem to generate any kind of excitement amongst a fan base or even like for the studio making them. There’s not really much room for anything else. That’s my problem.”
Not just that he would also prefer to do a starry Marvel movie over the Oscar-winning one. The 73-year-old man also said “I’m not doing statue-chasing movies. You know [whispers]: ‘If you do this movie you’ll win an Oscar'. No thanks. I’d rather be Nick Fury. Or having fun being Mace Windu with a lightsaber in my hand.”
