The Best Movie Trilogies Ranked

Fiction July, 08, 2025

It is said that all good things happen in threes and this is especially true for stories. A three-act structure is viral in Western countries. We make a status quo in this structure. After that we see the defeat of our heroes. Eventually we see them returning to their form and achieving the target.

All of these stories cannot come in a single story. The movie trilogy was made to give tribute to the heroic tale. This film might be unlike other movies but if you combine all these three stories you will find a story that you won’t be able to neglect.

Before we get set for the journey let’s begin our criteria. These selected trilogies are meant to be three films from the start or the end of the third one. We choose to involve trilogies like Toy Story and Indiana Jones even though they have been carried on with more entries.

Also trilogies are not acceptable in the middle of the existing series. Some examples are the Tommy Jarvis stories discovered on Friday the 13th: part IV to Part VI and the Star Trek II: The Warth of Khan Arc found in the Star Streak IV: The Voyage Home. Here are our top three film stories that highlight the best of cinematic storytelling.

The Naked Gun Trilogy

The list reveals an issue that the Naked Gun trilogy regularly follows. The Naked Gun released in 1998 was newly formed from the police squad files. It helps as a proof of idea. Jerry Zucker Jim Abrahams David Zucker and co-writer Pat Profit were trying to bring their blockbuster television series Police Squad.

To achieve the success of the 1980s airplane The Naked Gun 2 ½ The Smell of Fear (1991) is a more entertaining film than an airplane. This is said in terms of jokes per minute. But this idea has become outdated and insulting in 19994’s The Naked Gun 33 ⅓ the final product

When three movies are considered complete the third one is perfect. This happens only because it has a more extended transphobic joke better than Ace Ventura: The Pet Detection from the same year. The terrible third movie is still made by compiling the earlier two films. The one who performed the best comedy was Leslie Nielsen.

He was the one who delivered phrases like I am sure that we can handle this situation maturely same as the responsible adults that we are. Mr. Poppy Pants am I right? The third film may have been boring but the three films balance it with many entertaining jokes. The number of jokes in the three films beats any other funny movie.

The Matrix Trilogy

Here comes The Matrix. This is a trilogy that consists of two errors in judgment and one fantastic movie. Many trilogies use this definition which includes the first Rambo and Beverly Hills cop series. The original movie changed the genre so The Matrix grabbed its position. To make a film industry for any reason Lilly and Lana Wachowski are the directors who mixed all of their passions: anime video games and continental philosophy.

Over time The Matrix on VHS and the new DVD format were available worldwide. Before that the audience demanded more about the fight between humans and machines. After that came the Matrix Revolution which was refilled in 2003. Intelligent and analytical statements were combined by the supporters of the two The Matrix all over the year. No matter how strong these explanations are they cannot control the nature of revolutions and remix them.

The Dollars Trilogy

The man often known as the Man with No Name trilogy is the Dollar trilogy. It is an unattached group of films. Italian director Sergio Leone directed each photo which had Clint Eastwood and the music was composed by Ennio Morricone. The spaghetti western improved for plenty of dollars (1964) a few more dollars (1965) and ugly(1996). There are no connected characters or themes in the three films. Moreover Eastwood’s main characters are Joe Manco and Blondie.

Within these pictures there is an unbreakable sense of unity. The plan of American supremacy handed over in traditional Westerns is rewritten by all three. Alternatively Leone paints a fantastic photograph of the American West. It is also harsh and striking. Spanish terrain is where desperate men struggle to meet the ends. They build up the modernist Western of their day by including barbarians in ten-gallon hats to provide a simple difference between lovely white and messy black hats.

The Jason Bourne Trilogy

The three original Bourne films like the Matrix before them are held responsible for the movie that tried to copy them. Paul Greengrass who replaced Doug Liman as director of The Bourne Identity (2002) offered The Bourne Supremacy(2004) and The Bourne Ultimatum(2007) a dynamic unclear camera style. Poor filmmakers continued to mix speed with confusing disorder for years later on. However rewatching those two films later highlights the value of the Greengrass method which removed the shiny face of most spy thrillers and replaced them with unclear cruelty.

Greengrass cinematic approach is more than simply a creative experiment. It maintains Liman’s original take on spying. This began when he and authors Tony Gilroy and William Blake Herron produced Robert Ludlum’s novel. The Bourne identity. Matt Damon had previously worked in Hollywood dramas and indies in the 1990s.

He was not likely an informer but his strong conspiracy stories and aw-shucks attitude changed the genre in the post-9/11 era. Even though it was one of many copied films in the 2000s series Bourne stood out as something new and captivating for viewers. When Greengrass took over he increased the action making it something we had never seen before and couldn't wait to experience again.

Evil Dead Trilogy

Although the three Evil Dead films directed by Sam Raimi aren't fantastic some may disagree. It is difficult for film lovers to be disappointed with Rimi's wonderfully creative approach to low-budget horror. However others say that it is not a true trilogy because Evil Dead II essentially transforms the original two films.
